Strategic Planning Facilitation
We run the process that turns your board's and management's ideas into a strategic plan with targets, owners, costs and a way of reporting progress.

Many strategic plans are written by one person, approved at one meeting and then left on a shelf until the next one is due. Staff never see them, budgets are set without reference to them, and the board has no way of telling whether they are working.
A plan that people use needs two things: a process that brings the board and management to real agreement, and a format that connects the plan to budgets and reporting.
The Process
- Interviews with board members, senior managers and, where useful, key stakeholders such as the shareholder, regulators or major customers.
- A review of performance, finances and the operating environment, presented as a short briefing pack for the workshops.
- Facilitated workshops to agree the priorities, the goals and what the organisation will stop doing.
- A written plan with objectives, measures, owners and costs for each priority.
- A one-page summary for staff, and a quarterly reporting format for the board.
Where the Workshops Happen
Workshops can be held in your offices, in Malé or at a resort, where the team can work for two or three days without interruption. Our executive retreats combine the strategy sessions with venue, transfers and the full programme.
After the Plan Is Approved
A strategy is only tested once it meets the budget. We can help translate the plan into department objectives and next year's budget, and attend the first quarterly review to check that the reporting format works. Organisations that want the plan to reach individual objectives can link it to a performance management system.
Common Questions
How long does the process take?
Usually eight to twelve weeks from the first interviews to a plan ready for board approval, with the workshops themselves taking two to three days.
Do you write the plan for us?
We write the draft from what the board and management agree in the workshops. The content is yours, and we revise the draft with you until it says what you mean.
Can you facilitate a single strategy workshop?
Yes. Some organisations already have most of a plan and want an outside facilitator for one session to settle priorities or test the plan before approval.
